MOSAIC MSC
It’s often said by the wisest and most successful, that if ever there is an undying pull to pursue your dreams, then you are meant to go against the odds + do exactly that: Follow your dreams. Regardless of any setbacks, obstacles, or judgement. You push through the barricade, and believe in exactly what you feel called to do. Because at the end of the day, you will be rewarded, as it is often believed. Breaking bounds, Mosaic MSC is a prime example of this, and hardcore schooling us on it.
Mosaic MSC is a Worship band based in Hollywood, CA, and flowing with some of the most talented singers and musicians. Collectively their sound is unique + captivating due to the beautiful blend of cultures that make up the band. Breaking cycles of the past, this band is diverse beyond measure, with an ultimate goal of being as influential + impacting as possible - something severely needed in this time.
Speaking for the band (which consists 10 artists total), Andy Figueroa (bass + songwriter) and Colin Dennard (keys + songwriter) provided host Eddy Barco with a view into this multi-talented band. Anyone who is familiar with how Worship Music works in the Christian Community, can understand the push back a lot of artists and bands receive during their journey of rising to the top, regardless of intentions or future plans. A lot of judgement and shade can be thrown down consequently, and this can be quite tragic to the career due to the fact that the music written is shaped + formed in effort to bring the community, and believers, together.
Free falling into the unknown, and having blind faith, the band’s Worship Leader, Mariah McManus, spontaneously feels called to record the band’s first album “live in LA.” Resonating with the band, next thing they know they are preparing for a show at the world famous Wiltern Theatre. Despite this exciting idea and opportunity, the fact remained that their music hadn’t been shared beyond their own church (considering it wasn’t even recorded yet), and they weren’t quite sure what to think. With absolutely zero expectations, they stepped up to the venue and were blown away by the amount of people waiting for doors to open; a line had already formed down the block. Apparently their church had spread the word to other churches, and the word continued to spread, ensuring success followed them. With the success of their live album recording, their careers began to launch.
Shortly after their success at the Wiltern, they released their debut album, successfully hitting the TOP 30 on the Billboard Charts, as well as peaking in the Top 20 on the Hot Christian Songs Chart. MSC Mosaic had hit an exciting and new milestone.
When inquired about their church’s support for their music and success, the band appreciatively spoke of the love and encouragement they receive from their church. Despite this love + support, the fact remains that some communities + churches look down upon christian/religious groups who aim for success in the music industry. Some churches are harsher and more severe in their reaction to it; and as Andy speaks to his christian upbringing, it is widely understood that fame from worship music is majorly looked down upon in the Hispanic Christian Community. The overall scope of negative thought towards a worship band’s success in the secular world can be felt by many communities (inclusive of those outside of the christian community), and these beliefs and mindsets have been going for generations, as can be clearly seen through the minimal amount of worship bands that have successfully made a name for themselves in the secular world.
Despite it all, MSC Mosaic is determined to break these cycles. They continue to believe in spreading their music + sharing the messages they feel called to share and encapsulate. Determined to strive for excellence, they aim to set examples of creating products that of which you can be proud of.
“Our main goal in life sholdn’t be success, but we should strive for GREATNESS. In the sense that you’re putting your heart and soul into what you’re doing. And what you’re doing, changes someone’s life.”
MSC Mosaic is ready to take on the challenge of pushing the genre forward, and helping reshape the future of worship bands; ultimately erasing the lines separating secular music and christian music. Breaking the bounds that originally tied so many worship bands before them, MSC Mosaic is set to make history in the music industry, and redefine that which we were originally limited by.
